Will it only play in theaters or will it also come on a streaming service? Many movies, to finally make it to the screen, are getting a theatrical and streaming release at the same time. That or a streaming release a few weeks after the movie hits the big screen.

Below is everything we know about Free Guy, from the synopsis to where to watch it.
Release Date Free Guy
Free Guy hits theaters (and theaters only) on August 13, 2021. Previously, it was supposed to arrive in July 2020, but then the Covid-19 pandemic hit. The December 2020 and May 2021 release dates also didn’t materialize.
Trying to figure out where to watch it online? We’ve got speculations below about where it will come out, and when.
Where does Free Guy 2021 stream?
The Free Guy streaming release date is most likely Monday, September 27, 2021. Since the film is a 20th Century Studios production, Disney Plus and/or Hulu are the most likely streaming platforms.

Free Guy will be a cinema exclusive for 45 days after its launch on August 13, 2021. This means that the film will be eligible for streaming from September 27, 2021. 20th Century Studios will distribute the film, which Disney owns. As a result, a Free Guy Hulu or Disney+ launch seems most likely. It is unlikely that Disney would immediately release the film on a competing streaming platform such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video.
In Free Guy, Ryan Reynolds stars as a non-player character (NPC) who is unaware that he exists in a video game. However, that soon changes and the revelation turns his whole world upside down. Reynolds will appear alongside an all-star supporting cast, including Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok), and Joe Keery (Stranger Things).
It is, of course, possible that Free Guy will come to streaming services like Netflix and Prime Video in the future. Should that happen, however, it will most likely be once the film has hit its stride on its own Disney streaming platforms.

The movie only runs in theaters, so to see it you’ll need to find a big screen near you to play the movie. Once the theatrical run is over, you can find the movie on streaming and VOD.
As for which streaming service it will go to, it hasn’t been announced yet, but movies from 20th Century Studios usually go to Hulu. Disney did buy rights, though, so we can’t say for sure.

Free Guy cast
Free Guy has the widest and longest cast this side of Avengers: Endgame. Even with just the main cast, this is a movie we’re really excited about. Ryan Reynolds leads the cast as the titular Guy, while the excellent Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) stars as Milly, aka Molotov Girl, who has all the tough tendencies Guy doesn’t. Lil Rel Howery (Get Out, Bird Box) plays Guy’s best friend, Buddy the cop.
The main antagonist of the film appears to be the immature Antoine, played by Taika Waititi. Yes, the crazy genius who played, directed, and voiced What We Do In The Shadows for Thor: Ragnarok is content to just dazzle us on screen. Next to Waititi is Joe Keery (Stranger Things), who plays Keys, who looks like he works for Antoine.
Free Guy’s cameo stack looks intense, as 20th Century Studios’ own site lists Hugh Jackman, Dwayne Johnson, Tina Fey, and John Krasinski (seen in the latest trailer) at the very end of the pack. The late Alex Trebek will also appear as himself, as will game streamer Ninja.
