Vet home loan growth is high in Montgomery

Many more active soldiers, veterans and their families have gotten VA home loans in the Montgomery area in recent months. According to a new study, only six other U.S. cities have experienced faster growth during that time.

Last year was a record year for VA-assisted home loans and refinancing, and loans in the Montgomery area rose another 75% in the first half of this fiscal year. That’s the seventh-largest increase in the nation at that time, according to home loaner Veterans United’s analysis of Data from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The list is topped by the Honolulu, Washington, DC and Baltimore metro areas, all of which grew more than 80%. Huntsville landed at number 9 with a growth of 73%.
