Christian Pulisic laid off Chelsea to a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday against Crystal Palace.

“As I got closer to the goal I thought I might as well shoot and just go for it.

“I didn’t know the ball was going in, I didn’t know what to do. I was overjoyed.

“I trained with the team in the pre-season and the manager said I was playing and I was ready. I was surprised by the Supercup match and I grabbed the opportunity with both hands.”

The result means Patrick Vieira will start his tenure at Crystal Palace with a loss. the ex-FC New York City Boss was appointed as coach after Roy Hodgson stepped down in the summer after four years in the role.
